Shopify handles a lot of technical SEO for you, but it also has fixed rules: set URL patterns, products reachable at more than one address, and themes and apps that can add weight and duplicate markup.
We work within those rules to strengthen the pages that sell: collections, products and supporting content. Our Shopify SEO work is part of our e-commerce SEO service, and we can also help with store design through Shopify store design.
Typical Shopify SEO issues
- Empty collection pages. Collections are product grids with no text explaining what they contain.
- Supplier descriptions. Product pages share text with many other stores.
- App and theme weight. Old apps leave scripts behind and slow the store down.
- Duplicate product URLs. Products linked through collection paths or variants create duplicate addresses.

Frequently asked questions
Is Shopify bad for SEO?
No. Shopify stores can rank well. It has some fixed structures, but most important factors such as content, collections and speed are within your control.
Do I need an SEO app?
Not always. Many tasks can be done in Shopify’s own settings and theme. If an app helps, we recommend one and remove any that duplicate its job.
Can you edit my theme?
Yes, with your approval. We work on a duplicate theme where possible and publish changes once checked.
Do you write collection descriptions?
Yes. Collection and product content can be written by us or with your team. See content writing.
